Product description
The first edition of this book was published in 1993. It provided an important collection of written material on native law and custom for the guidance and reference of the Native Courts. This 2015 Edition continues in this tradition with most of the original articles intact and additional material added to reflect the growth and development in the system. Native law and custom have played important roles in the daily lives of the natives of Sabah. When the British Chartered Company acquired the territory that was to constitute the present-day Sabah from the Sultan of Sulu, there already existed a system of administration of justice based on native law and custom. This system was later institutionalized by the British through the establishment of Native Courts which survived till this day.
